… well, at least some of them. On one of my relentless online search for new comic books to read, I found that gem.

http://www.comicbookreligion.com/

More than 20.000 characters from comic books are in the database; for each of them, the religious beliefs (or lack of) are given.

Lex Luthor follows Nietzsche’s philosophy

I’ve only had a quick look, and noticed a few interesting facts:

– Judaism is the most popular religion searched by visitors

– Wolverine is “a raised Protestant; sometimes atheist; has practiced Buddhism; skeptical seeker”

– Jonah Jameson’s religion is to hate Spider-Man

– Judge Dredd is a fascist

– The Punisher is a Catholic, and a former seminatarian. So much for “Thou shalt not kill”…

– Bugs Bunny is considered as an anthropomorphic animal and therefore has no religion; however, I’m sure he could be considered as an hedonist

According to the site, “The primary purpose of this website is to identify the religious affiliations of various characters. We strive to be the most comprehensive and most accurate possible resource for answering this question.”
